Chaffy is a fan character.

Character bio

Chaffy is a red, blue, and white chaffinch wearing a yellow bow-tie. He likes to have fun and do goofy things that can entertain himself and others, even if it at least ends up with a small chuckle. Chaffy also has his own way to educate himself and others, usually involving him role-playing as someone or something. Because of this, he never seems bored. If he is really bored, he can look around for something fun anyway.

For someone who is rarely bored, Chaffy obviously has many friends, though currently he is shown to be only close friends with Cuddles and he is often shown playing with Cub or Hatchy. Not only that, he happens to have an imaginary friend who, of course, cannot be seen. Chaffy only plays with his "friend" if there is nobody else to play with.

Like Chroma, Chaffy likes the pastel colors that make up the majority of colors in Happy Tree Friends world. Also, he is prone to having a seizure.

Considering the show's premise, apparently Chaffy never seems to realize that doing almost anything can result in deaths. He thinks that everything is okay, that is until he discovers a dead character right before his eyes. If this happens, he usually gets panicky and tries to hide in somewhere safe, though he is more likely to die like other characters.
